MISSION

Project Description

Project Goal:

The rapid digitization process is exponentially increasing the volume of data and information in the maritime transport chain as well and offers the potential to facilitate cargo handling and accelerate work processes. In order to exploit these opportunities in terms of increased cost efficiency, flexibility and transparency, the targeted and non-discriminatory networking of information flows is essential.

Objectives:

MISSION develops a non-discriminatory information network that allows companies outside the port or with few resources for IT integration to access relevant information of a transportation process. An important design principle is the open infrastructure, in which as little data as possible is held centrally and data sovereignty remains with the provider.

Role of the CML in MISSION:

Together with the consortium, Fraunhofer CML develops an innovative and non-discriminatory information management as well as pilot applications, e.g. for truck routing and tracking.

Project Consortium:

Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services CML, University of Lübeck - Institute for Software Engineering and Programming Languages (ISP), Lufthansa Industry Solutions AS GmbH, Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH (consortium coordinator).

MISSION is funded with a total of 2.79 million euros, of which 66% is proportionally borne by the BMVI. Duration: November 2017 to October 2020.
